During this weekend I had some problems with high temp in my BC 29. The Temp went up to 86 F (30 C). could the LR be damage with this high temp? and this High temp could kill the bacteria? I started the cycling last Thursday.

No, I wouldn't worry about the LR. Very resiliant stuff. If there was any die-off it will just become part of the cycle.

Was this just a freaky occurance or will you again have higher temps when your tamk is up and going? 86 could very well kill fish and bleach coral. So, if this is going to happen again we need to work with you on "addition's to help you cool.

I am checking the temp very carefully, and I found that durind the day the temp rise up to 86 and during the night drops to 80. I have a BC29 with only the LR.

You're going to have to raise the lid on that and place a fan on there to blow across the surface. A little more aeration with an airpump wouldn't hurt either.

Thanks a lot for the info. I found a similar fan that you have in the webpage but with 6500 rpm's. I will install them and also I will put aeration using the air pump.

Since yesterday morning the temp is steady, and I did not istall the fans. the only thing I did yesterday was to but some air pumped directly to the power head. I am checking the temp every 24 hours.

If you are adding room temperature air through the powerhead that would make the tank run a little cooler. You can probably achieve this same effect by buying a small air pump and running the tube from it into the back "sump" area of your tank. If it was me I would put the airline in the middle chamber (I'm guessing that the BioCube has 3 chambers like my NanoCube) so that you aren't pumping them all back into the tank. I think this will look better than pumping air into the tank through the powerhead.

The only solution i ever found to cooling my tank (that worked for me) before i got my chiller was with fans. Now i guess you can use them in any way, shape or fashion but the air blowing across the surface cooled the temps down from 82F to around 76F. I too have the BC29 and the things are known to run hot, but i have never had any problems with my reef being too hot...just when i decided to turn the tank into a seahorse tank.

But i just took a "house" fan that was on a pole and placed it in from of the tank with the front and back lids opened for added circulation.

Now, im sure that you can probably come up with something just as effiecient and much less unsightly than my pole fan but you get the point. However i never had to install a fan on this tank so i wont be able to add in anything on how to do so without raising the hood someway. hopefully others that are more experienced will chime in soon.

i don't know if you can get this shipped to you, or how good you are at DIY (do it yourself) you are, but if you swap out the heat shield from your system to one of these: nanotuners (http://www.nanotuners.com/product_info.php?cPath=24&products_id=385) ,you may should get some additional cooling/less heating from your lighting during the day.

Yes I check it and they can send it to Mexico without any problem, also they have a lot of extras for the BC29 that I am thinking in buying, like a very nice skimmer design for the BC and also another modifications to the lights. I thing they also can send spare parts to México.

if you're looking at the Sapphire Aquatics skimmer, it's a good one. we are running one on our JBJ 24, and it works well. i recommend it over the Lee that you have been using.
