hi guys,

This is yet another question about my new 15gal nano. Im in the process of ordering a HOB canister filter that will produce 16x turnover per hour on the tank (250gph) and a T5 HO flourescent lighting fixture. It's got 2x24watt T5 bulbs.

My question is, with all of this flow and all of this light will it be possible to keep some montipora digitata and/or montipora capricornis high up in the tank? It's around 16" deep and the highest point on the aquascape is probably 5-7" deep.

And if its not too much trouble could yall let me know if a clam is also a possibility?

I answered your other thread on filters. A 2x24watt T5 fixture is not going to be enough IMO. when keeping sps corals you really need intense lights. some people keep them under pc's but IMO doesn't do them justice at all.

I'm afraid..

No.. and probably No...

I tried keeping Monti Digi under 96W in a 20 gallon and it did not work well. The coral lived, but changed color drastically, and the frag NEVER grew. It just "survived". I then put it in to my 75G with 2X175 MH and 2X90W VHO actinics and the frag turned deep purple, and tripled in size in just a month or so.

Clams... well... I've got some form of muscles, and a spiny oyster that are doing very well in my 26 Bowfront under 110W PC. However, they have no photosynthetic needs. If you are talking about tridacnids...well... they have light needs; even the less demanding clams. Again, a squamosa, gigas, or derasa, may "hang in there" for some time, but will not thrive in that system. Even if by some miracle, you found one that did find a way to sustain itself and actually grow, it'd be busting out the glass in just a couple years time.
