Hi guys,

I have a 15 gal tall nano tank cycling right now and id like to try my hand at some SPS corals for the first time. Probably acros, monti digi, monti capricornis and some others.

I found this metal halide clamp on that i like, im probably going to go with the 150w model. With this light, about how much water depth am i looking at to work with with SPS?

A LFS guy was telling me that SPS dont thrive unless the halides you have them under are at least 250w. Is that true? and does anyone have any experience with these guys under 75-150w MHs?

i would probably go with a 175w light. if i am not mistaken, a 15 tall is about 18 1/2" tall and IMO, a 150 probably wont be enough to let the acropora in the tank thrive, unless they are placed high in the tank.
