I bought some rock yesterday and when I got it home a few hours later I pulled one of the pieces out of the water and found about 15 bristle worms on it. I haven't put it in my tank and don't want bristle worms in my tank but am not sure as to the best way to get them out of the rock other than drying the rock completely out and recuring.

Any ideas?

Is there a reason you dont want them? Because they tend to be good scavengers, and rather harmless when small. Bristleworms get a bad rep. Catching them will be hard as well, they're mainly nocturnal and cute as a button. I have never had any trouble with them, they just seem tp pick up what ever everyone else leaves behind. Posting a pic would help, in determining their size, and what possible damage they could do.

Bristleworms are good little helpers. SoCal hit it right on the head. I would keep them or see if anyone on TR might want them.

Also welcome to Talkingreef, I hope you enjoy your stay here. :)

here's a pic of them along with other critters that were in the rock too. I"ve heard mixed opinions about them.

i would toss the big one in the toilet and toss the smaller ones in your tank. they are excellent scavengers.

I agree, bristleworms are good guys. :) The guy that is shaped like a comma in the upper left corner looks like an amphipod. They are good guys too.
