This Frogspawn of mine is just as Happy as a Coral can be.While it's at rest in the morning with the lights out I've counted at least 5 heads,maybe more.Started out with one.
Now,do I leave well enough alone,or attempt to frag this beautiful,healthy Coral.
I've fragged soft corals before with success.
Can I do it with simple household Items?Are there any recommendations,do's and dont's ,from some of the members who've done it with success?
Everytime I look at this coral, it's just growing like crazy lately.
I love this hobby.

with 5 heads i would leave it to grow bigger and much more beautiful. when it gets about 15 heads on it you will be glad you left it alone.

if you want to frag it, it is very simple ... just cut a head or two off with a pair od side cutters. cut where the stem of the heads you want to remove meets the stem of the main coral. HTH

Now, I have a slightly different view on when to frag. When it looks like it's healthy and can withstand the stress... clip one head off and place it elsewhere in the tank or better yet... place it in another tank that is suitable.... if you have one. We just lost 25 heads of a remarkable frogspwn. I wish I had of nipped just one of them off so we could have another starter. We grew this from 2 heads, I believe, and was doing fantastic until we went on vacation for 16 days. It went into RTN for whatever reason and now we have none of that colony.

LFS guy told me,as I recall,that this is a hybrid of some sort.Frogspawn/Torch I believe he said...I'd be interested in your thoughts

looks like frogspawn/hammer hybrid to me. the same fragging technique applies though. if you want more than one, by all means frag it. i just like the "look" of huge colonies myself.
