I've been an avid listener to Talking Reef for a while now, but for the last 2 days, I can't seem to download any new podcasts. Is there something going on or am I doing something wrong? Thanks in advance.

yep the last one was that one welcome:cool: and if you use itunes it works really really well.

sorry guys, i have been having some stability issues with the podcast server.. i am working on it, but its a tricky issue.. cant seem to nail it down

thats why its good to save all the podcasts on the computer

I have been unable to get ANY podcasts. I tried to get the Stony Frag piece, and figured maybe it was too big and the traffic was high. Since that time, I have tried some of the smaller mp3 versions and have had no luck there either. I have tried with ITunes as well as right click and Save As

I am jonesing to put some of these on my phone and watch them/listen to them while my son has appointments....

Help?

Im having problems downloading some of the older podcasts. Been trying for the last 3 days and have had no luck. Any ideas? Not sure if my IP address is blocked or something, not one of the older podcasts will download.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the podcast and/or iTunes? When I have problems one or the other of these has been effective.

Hi. Yes have tried that. Even tried itunes on another PC with no luck. All my other podcasts work fine..

I am having the same problem, I will look into and hopefully get ya downloading in no time :)

Hi guys, im new to talkingreef, i just found it on itunes, and got realy excited, only to find that i cant download any episodes!

i have tried 2 programs do download it (itunes & juice) neither have worked.

i hope i get to start listening to these soon, im quite excitied.

The server had to be reconfigured over the last few days. Is everyone still having this issue or a different now?

I found talking reef couple weeks ago and have now burned through all the cast.Any idea when the next cast will be out?
I want to say thanks to Rob and the others involved in producing this,its freakin awsome,im all cracked out on talking reef,LOL

first off i want to let everyone know that the stabilities and availability issues with the podcast server (and shows) should now be resolved. i want to apologize for any headache it may have caused.

Jasonak, as to the next show. i i expect to start on it this week and shoudl have it out for next week.. again, im kind of taking a break this summer, but this is my target for the next show.

well, i dono what im dong wrong... ive dl podcasts before (and did a few tests of other podcasts..and they work)
but i simply cant download talking reef podcasts or vidcasts. this is quite frustrating.

im dying to listen to your stuff. do i need to pay for these podcasts? is that why i cant get them?

sorry for being such a noob. im both a noob to marine aquariums and this podcast.

is there some alternate way i can download your podcast???

I just tried to download the old podcasts through itunes. No go. Doesn't connect. Just to test if it was an itune problem, i downloaded all the reefcast episodes, so i know it works. Went back and tried to download individually with save target as on the pod logo. Still no go (A connection to the server could not be established.)

Thought i'd let you know the problem's not fixed just yet.

just to add, i have also tried using google reader

wich lets you suscribe to podcasts, and listen to them online, and even this doesnt work.

Trying to catch up here, Rob.....

Tried listening to the podcast from Reefkeeping magazine to no avail. Planning out a 156Gallon tank and am very eager to listen to shows. I should have kept them saved on my computer. Oh well...:shout:

lol im glad i save all of the shows they actually fill up half of my 4g pink ipod nano =)

After my above complaint, they magically started working and I was able to download about 8 of them that I had thought would be a good start. Some were old and some were new. I used iTunes and saved them on my computer.

The last week, to include this morning (7-4-07 7:30AM EDT) , I am unable to DL any of them. I even picked some really small ones to see. It keeps giving me the equivalent of a time out. I tried both Audio only and Video podcasts.

Sorry that this isn't working. Maybe Rob you can post a link to this on the front page? Maybe its just too busy? Is there somewhere we can FTP from?

Ill see what i can do about it, Rob had to update the server for the podcast and in order to do that he had to reload everything. well if i remember right he had to manually redo all the settings. Hopefully we can get it fixed in the next few days. Sorry for the inconvenience everyone.

its day 5 of my 'cycle' and yet the readings are exactaly the same as day one!
i dont get it, im sure the numbers are supposed to go up or down (preferably)
its my first time ever doing marine, im sure im mucking it up :(

I don't remember how you have your tank set up. How much LS, LR, etc? Was the rock sold as cured or did it come from another tank? Have you seen any ammonia yet?

Oh sorry, let me explain

20G (High)
6 days into 'cycle'
5.5Kg LR

Numbers:
Ammonia ~0.01ppm
Nitrite ~ 0ppm
Nitrate ~ 5ppm
PH 8.4

i have had the lights on increasing 1 hour per day
(so im now at about 6 hours of light)

i don't understand why my numbers are constant :S

You are a little light on your LR, I would suggest at least 1/2 Kg/gallon. The lights won't really make much difference in the cycling so you could certainly hold steady at the 6 hrs/day. I am guessing that your rock was pretty well cured and you are not having much die off. To be sure you have a healthy bacteria population established I would suggest dropping a raw unseasoned table shrimp in the tank. Let in in there for a couple of days and then pull it out. Your ammonia level will go up and you should see the initial cycle move along.

You might want to go ahead and start a Tank Journal http://www.talkingreef.com/forums/member-tank-projects/ so you can document your progress. I like to look back over mine to see how far I've come. :)

Hey Guys, its been ages, and i still cant download the podcast. i dont understand why its not working. i have reinstalled windows, and iTunes just to get this podcast and its still not working. i ended up geting a few shows. but then it stoped working.

is it at my end? or are other people having problems too?

I'm also unable to download any of the podcasts. They were working Friday night, but Saturday and today I haven't been able to get a single show. :cry:

oh thanks 3vilPuffin, thats awesome, however i was after all of the shows. i am new to Marine aquariums and i was hopeing to catch up on the shows.

i have only listend to the first show ever, and episode 21 i think. all the rest i have been unable to download from itunes.

3vilPuffin i understand you cant send me all the episodes :P so if you just pick a random few, or ones that you think a newby such as myself would get alot out of. i would appreciate it. least it will get me going :D

do you know how to use .torrent files then i think i can make a torrent of all of them and you and others can get them all or pick and choose from me if it worked and if not pm me your e-mail and ill try and send you any you want or just pick some
