Ok, i've had ghost srimp before, and i wanna get some acclimated to a saltwater tank. My local walmart got rid fo all there fish, my often rudeness of how they treated there fish may have aided in this (hehe). But i don't know anywhere els to byu them and i'd like to get them from the wild. I heard there in grassy areas in the water. In bays and sandy areas. No where online said specific areas or anything.

Does anyoen know where i could collect ghost shrimp? Should i get some from some bay in florida when i'm down there? are they in indiana and i've just not really seen them?

Can someone please give me a link or some info onto where to find these, that would be alot of help. i havent found anywhere online that says where.

Ghost shrimp being fresh water shrimp? fresh water pet shrimp or feeder shrimp?

The ghost shrimp tat are also called glass or grass shrimp. The ones you can find at your local walmart probably.

How come you want to turn fresh water shrimp into salt water shrimp?

I don't think its possible to acclimate fresh water to sat water like that. There body has evolved over many many years to deal with fresh water and its surroundings. Changing there habitat like that would probably just lead to death.

I would look into peppermint shrimp or a cleaner or some type.

I use ghost shrimp as feeder shrimp for treats for my SH and display i use them for good gut loading when i want to give my livestock suppliments. the will live for about 12-24 hours in salt water more towards the 24 hour mark if you supplement the water in there tank with about 10-20% SW. but they wont "Live" in SW. for gut packing feed the shrimp what ever you want your live stock to have about 30-45 min. before you feed them to your tank. they don't have time to fully digest it and your live stock will get the benefits of the supplements.

I've aslways read there liek guppies, and that they could live in saltwaqter if you acclimate them well. I heard thy could live from 25%-100% saltwater.

i've never tried honestly they dont last long enough in my house for me to bother. you can pick them up at LFS for feeder shrimp for less that 10 cents each. grab a couple of bucks worth and try. let us know how it turns out. though i would acclimate them over several days to a week or two replacing small amounts of FW with SW. i can tell you this they will turn milky when i put them in my SW tanks a couple of hours before they die that might be a sign that you are going to quick. good luck

and they get milky sometimes before and after they die. but if they are in good health and good water quality they should turn pink after death. I've breed them before and had great succes in a 10 gallon tank. but then once i added a freshwater goby i caught in a creek, over a few weeks, he ate them all...
