If you have micro and macro algae in your display tank is there a need to supplament feed a tang with nori?

I don't know if it's necessary, but I do it. Maybe twice a week. My yellow tank, coral beauty and lawnmower blennie seem to appreciate it.

All nutrition options available,the more the better,especially when it comes to tangs.A good Immune system makes all the difference.
A Healthy Tang is quite the grazer.

Even though they are primarily herbivores, I give mine Formula 1, brine shrimp and cyclopeeze. They love it, and it seems a very balanced diet to me. Mine are fat and sassy!:up:

Maybe I should have diversified his diet a little earlier. I got home from work and he had kicked the bucket and took my skunk cleaner and coral banded shrimp with him. Oh well live and learn.

Sorry to hear that. A lot of times if you wait until a fish looks bad it is already too late to save it, Let us know when you are ready to add more fish, we are always ready to answer questions.

If you came home and found your Tang, Skunk Cleaner Shrimp and Coral Banded Shrimp dead, my guess is you have a different problem than a lack of a diversified diet for your Tang. Something else is wrong in your system IMHO.

Did you test for ammonia and nitrites?

I checked my levels after he keeled over and all were fine except an amonia spike which I figured was from the tang dying and the others couldn't handle it.

One dead fish shouldn't cause a spike that big! How long has the tank been cycled?

The tank has been set up for about eight months. Cycled for a little over seven.

You do have a good clean up crew, I am assuming??? I'd think they would have it cleaned up in no time!

My clean up crew is pretty descent. The tang died near the top of the tank on some rockwork. The bristle worms didn't want to go in to the light to get him I guess and my hermits suck. To small to do much that quickly anyways. I couldn't find the skunk cleaner so I'm sure they made light work of him.
