I didn't want to start a tank journal yet since my tank is not close to set up yet (about a month yet), but I did get a little LR to start curing and it's exciting. All I have seen on it are som tube worms on one piece that are alive. I got it from a LFS but going to check out a couple more this week and I'll be ordering some more online so we'll see what all I end up with...

You are really on your way. :) I watched my tank a lot with just the LR in it. You will be amazed at how much life there is.

and so it begins... THE WATCHING OF THE TANK.

everyone has done it, and still does it. when you're new, you watch it ALL the time and are totally amazed by what is going on. i'm still amazed at what is going on, i just don't watch it 24/7 like i use to.

i use to sit, very still, by the tank at night with a few lights on it the house, and with a tweezer, to catch bristle worms. then i went to watch the pods. then i went to watching... and so on and so on.

So I have some tiny little pods, some amphipods and I think a saw a little larger pod type (bigger and flatter than an amphipod). I also have this little snail... Any ideas what type it is?

Whats this little thing on the glass? There are a few. This is the clearest picture but usually the back end is split to either side in two little trails.

It's a flatworm. Good or bad I am not sure, but most seem to be bad.

Thats Great. I knew I had seen those pictured somewhere but couldnt rember what it was. The good news is the few I saw were in the tank I took my rock out of, so its empty now. Of course theres probably more in the rock. Guess I will try the treatment once all my rock is in my main tank before I add the cleanup inverts.

Do you have any acropora? If not I don't think I would treat my tank.

Ok thanks carmie, i guess I was thinking of worse things like redbugs. I read up a little on the flat worms and no big deal for now. I plan to have a mandarin also which can help control them. Without knowing really, i suspect mandarins help because the mandarin eats the same food not that mandarins eat the the flatworms.
