I have had my aquarium set up for two years now, and my biggest clown fish is really fat, just hangs out around the bottom of the tank. She eats pretty good, and has become somewhat agressive towards other fish. Can she be pregnant, or sick. I have two nemo looking clown fish, chocolate chip star, queen conch, and misc hermit crabs. Please any help would be appreciated

Hi ver,

:welcome: to TR.

Is this new behavior? What are your tank parameters?

I have a 30 gal tank with compact fluorescent lighting. I have my tank checked and cleaned every two weeks by a professional company, so I would assume they are good. I never had a problem before. What does a pregnant clown fish look like other than being fat

I am going to assume that the clown is pregnant. I can't find anything on the web to tell me what a pregnant clown will behave like. The pair of them are staying by one rock, and won't let anything else by them. Still eating well, but still fat as can be. How long would it take her to lay these eggs?

Ver, I haven't bred clowns so I don't know. Guarding the rick sounds like spawning behavior to me. Have you noticed them doing a little shimmy kind of dance? Hopefully this post will serve as a :bump: and someone more knowledgeable than me will jump in.

Well, thanks Carmiejo. She laid eggs last night, not to be found this morning, but they are still guarding that rock. Thanks for helping

I've heard that they often lay a few batches before they start raising them.

I grew up in Stark County and we lived in Kent for a couple of years after college. Are you a member of C-SEA?

The Cleveland Saltwater Enthusiasts Association (http://www.c-sea.org/) Back when I lived in OH back in the 80's and there was still a SeaWorld of Ohio we met at the park 9 months out of the year. Meeting at SeaWorld was super cool. In Sept and Oct, after the crowds were gone but while the livestock was still there, the dolphins in the petting tanks would hear us talking and start calling to us to come pet them. It was a great club, I learned lots there. I looked at their website and now the meet at the Cleveland Zoo but that is not all that far from Streetsboro.
