I am looking to set up a tank for my angler fish and want to keep some zoos in with it and possibly some pulsing xenia and other easier corals. A friend of mine from my local reef club is offering me a used 36" PC 2x65w All Glass Co. light fixture for about $52. Would this light work? I have other tanks I will be getting more intensive light for so no worries about me wanting to upgrade. Just would like to grow some stuff out in with the Angler and give it a colorfull tank.

Excuse me, I forgot that the more appropriate common name for them is a frog fish. I don't think there is a hobbyist in the world at this point capable of keeping a deep sea angler, lol.

No one has any insight into the lighting?

Depending on the size of the tank and the corals you want to keep I think you would be ok with that light.

What size is the tank? Most zoas seem pretty tollerant as far as lighting goes. You may loose some intensity on some of the brighter ones though, depending on the depth of your tank.

Opps. I thought that info was in the original post. The tank will be a standard 30g AGA.

Someone else has offered me a 36" PC light (96 watts actinic) for less then $40 which I think I am going to pick up. They said it would be safe for zoanthids.

A couple of months from now I hope to put some T5s on a tank that is not too far away from this one if I can afford it. Perhaps I will use one of these lights and then at that point add a single T5 light above it in addition.

96W just actinic? You'll need more than just actinic light.

I have 130w of PC lights on my 24" deep tank. I keep my zoas at the bottom and they are doing fine.
