View Full Version : Horses comin round the mountain! Cyclura 03-02-2007, 07:42 PM I did it, a pair of H. erectus are on their way to my house and will be here on tuesday. Just as an FYI...Seahorse Source, the ultimate place for captive bred seahorses. (http://seahorsesource.com) is absolutely the BEST out there! Dan is an extremely polite man and he knows his stuff when it comes to seahorses. Not to mention he wont tell you just anything to make a sale, he says it like it is..take it ot leave it. Thats a quality i find makes me want to come back to him in the future. If you havent tried him out yet....dont hesitate to call him and order up some horses.
BTW, heres my QT tank.....you like?

Congrats. veriann 03-02-2007, 10:49 PM to many pony lovers on this site, we need to even up the scales a bit ..:D
do ponies have the same problem with micro bubbles as normal fish? Seahorsedreams 03-02-2007, 11:34 PM Like how exactly Veriann.
They are very susceptable to GBD but more than likely caused by a shift in blood pH.
Males could have problems if they flush their pouch while hitched the the airline.
We use to think a few years back that microbubbles of an airstone was a cause of GBD but we have since changed our stance on that. Cyclura 03-03-2007, 02:59 PM Males could have problems if they flush their pouch while hitched the the airline.
oh my goodness what does one do for a horse with an air pocket in his pouch? Reefbaby 03-03-2007, 03:18 PM Hmmmm....maybe he'd just be happy to see you?!http://www.talkingreef.com/forums/images/smilies/crazy.gif Seahorsedreams 03-03-2007, 03:37 PM oh my goodness what does one do for a horse with an air pocket in his pouch?
Typically, they can flush it out themselves.
If he has actual problems... what ya do is come here and post... I'll guide ya through any of the seahorse ailments. Remember that list I gave ya for the "First Aid Kit" ya will need... get it stocked :-) Cyclura 03-04-2007, 09:53 AM thanks renee, i ordered everything off of that list from seahorsesource (and some other places). Dan said he would be able to fit all of them in the same box as the horses. So everything comes at the same time.
Ill be prepared if anything happens this time. Seahorsedreams 03-04-2007, 01:48 PM You are the best new Seahorse Keeper I've talked with in a long time. Dood, you have no idea. I'm a mod on a seahorse site I've been apart of since 2002... questions I'm use to. People actually following through on suggestions... not so much.

Renee's right on this one...huge kudos to you, both for your research as well as actually walking the walk.
you have NO idea how cool it is to see someone doing it right from the get-go, rather than not listening, then showing up in the ER on the SH forum with a problem that was TOTALLY preventable had they taken the advice they asked for in the first place.
can't wait to see the pix. Cyclura 03-05-2007, 09:09 PM the package is officially in transit and has just left St lucia, Florida at 7:35pm. Due to arrive tomorrow morning! Im more excited than a legless ethiopian watching a doughnut roll down a hill! :P |
