I found someone to buy my galaxea from me and im not a fan of face to face meetings so im considering shipping it. The guy who's buying it is less that an hour away from me and the package could be there same day. My question is...whats the best way to package and ship this thing? i dont even know how i would bag it up to prevent it from ripping the transport bag. Any ideas? and is Fedex any good for shipping these kinds of things?

Shipping corals is not cheap. Allowing someone to pick it up is so much easier. Have you thought about meeting up at a reef meeting or outside the LFS?

First you may want to purchase a small thermos. Grab some zip lock baggies- double and triple layer is good. Rubber band the rock rubble that the coral is attached too to a piece of Styrofoam. Make sure the Styrofoam is bigger than the rock so when it bounces around, just Styrofoam is hitting the sides. Place in your baggies and then in a cooler. Fill any unused space with Styrofoam chips. Place the thermos in a box and it's ready to go.

Consider adding heat packs or ice depending on the weather.

for a galaxia i would have to recommend the thick black bag liners AND the floating method to ship it, BUT the cost of shipping will be HIGH (probably around $35 - $40) !! i agree with Gwen, on meeting at a LFS or reef club meeting.
