i just noticed today that my hammer sent out like 4 long tenticles. i am assuming they are sweepers. and i know remmeber reading that when they send out sweepers, they are unhappy in some way. does anyone know why they send out sweepers? is it because of too little space or what? anyhelp would be great!

i dont think so. i think its a natural thing that they do but it may be a sign of competition for space... iono!
yes, sweepers are normal, and are used for feeding.
just make sure there is enough room so it doesn't bother anything around it
sweeper tenticles can be used as a test & defense mechanism, or as a hook barb for big prey thats been ensnared. Their size & function are all determined by the tasted surroundings that trigger changes within the animal.

heres a pic 2 days after my hammer stung this colt coral. they pack a pretty good punch whether they put them out for defense, or feeding.
