Hi,
I'm kinda new to all of this and getting a little confused. I have a 20 gallon long with one 65 watt 50/50 pc. What would be the benefits (if any) of adding a second 65 watt 50/50 pc. All responses will be greatly appreciated. By the way this is my first post in any forum anywhere so I hope I didn't screw this up.

nope, you did fine.. :)
:welcome: to Talkingreef, we are happy to help ya.. :)

as for your lighting, another 65w 50/50 would help yes
but in my opinion it would bring you more to appropriate level, more than take you up to a higher level (if that makes sense)

agreed, learn from my mistake, save you money on PC and put it tward MH. having to stack PC ontop of PC is a waste of money. when all my bulbs go bad i'm throwing them out and getting a MH setup.

Rob,
Your answer made complete sense. And that is exactly what I thought. The only delimma now is the fact that I'm pretty sure I can get a hold of another 65 watt pc for free. I know I should go with the T5 or MH but if I can get the other fixture for nothing doesn't that buy me some time? Too tempting!!!!!!!!!
By the way guys thanks for the help. I'm pretty sure you'll be hearing more from me.
Thanks Again.

for sure...
the thing about doing it right the first time, is that it saves a lot of money.. but if your temporary solution is cheap/free, go for it until you are ready to upgrade.. :)

Hi caw928,

Free is always good. :) You will need to know about how old the bulbs are as they need to be replaced every 6-9 months. I have PC's on my tank and I am saving my $$ to buy the Solaris LED fixture. Hopefully I will be able to get it before I need to replace my bulbs.

CarmieJo,
Thanks for the info about the age of the bulbs. As far as i know the fixture and bulb is spanking new in terms of use not age. So hopefully i'll be able to get full use out of it. I'm still trying to accumulate everything for the tank right now but at least I'll have enough light to start out with.
Anyway thanks for the headsup,
