In my 10 gal I have a Pistol and Goby combo, so when I hear these snapping sounds I always assumed it was the Pistol Shrimp. So today I was looking at my Zoas to check for Nudi's and I saw this thing reach down from inside of one of the Zoa colonies and snap at a Hermit crab. And this was followed by that snapping sound.

Since the Pistol was right there sifting some sand, I thought I might have a Mantis shrimp inside that colony and did a FW dip on it.

The zoa colony is submerged in fresh water, all kinds of crazy popping sounds started immediately(think high voltage electricity) and then I see this worm flopping about and I captured him with a turkey baster, but no sign of a Mantis.

Later when I looked into the rock after lights out, I see a small shrimp still moving around inside the zoas, so will have to try another method of forced evacuation.

So what in the world is this ugly MOFO(Sorry for pic quality)

And this thing also, it's some sort of anemone.

looks like it is just a bristle worm.

It is a bristleworm, a clearer shot of the head will help identify as friend or foe.

Anemone looks to me like palythoa, I think the sand grains incorporated within its tissues gives it away, unless there are other similar inverts which do this as well.

Howdy guys.

I finally caught the snapper! It was a small pistol shrimp, now living in my friends tank.

As for the anemone, I like the little guy, and he loves mysis shrimp when the cleaner cant take it away from him.

im thinking the worm is a Nereid of some kind. if so they may eat some pods, but they are mostly scavengers. (i think) :)
