Ok, so last night I put some Reef Bugs in my BC29. I noticed this little tube thing probably about 3-4 mm round sticking out of the sand about 1/2 inch. It has a brown pointy top on it, it looks exactly like those oriental hats people wear in the rice fields, It was moving in the current. This morning it has shortened itself in the sand and I can only see the brown pointy top on the sand. Anyone know what this is? I can't get a pic cause my camera stinks.

Here's a good "Dr. Ron" on them:

I LOVE peanut worms.

I don't have a great pic of one yet... here in mine in the 24 peeking out of the rockwork.

I love how they poke out.. probe here, there and pop back in...reminds me of "Thing" from the Adams Family!

Am I aging myself here?

while it is probably a Peanut worm, theres no way to say for sure 100% what exactly it is without a pic. with that said, take a look at the Priapulida Worms found here Hitch Hiking Worms (http://home2.pacific.net.ph/%7Esweetyummy42/hitchworms.html) this page will give you a good up close pic of Peanut, and Priapulida worms together. then judge form there. :) neither are harmful, and are excellent detritus eaters. the little "hat" just got me thinking LOL

Ya, I saw the description but am not sure what hat you are talking about..... not sure what one wears in the rice fields.

I believe the hat that is being referred to is the wika or bambo sun hat.

Which is used around the world and not just used in a rice field. :)

Hay Cloob did you pick up live rock the other day at PetAdvantage? Is that where you got the peanut worm? Did you get 40 something pounds of LR?

Ah! I was trying to picture some sort of rice field attire that had some functionality for the task at hand.

Does your worm look like he's wearing it or is it turned around so the tip of the hat is touching the worm.... kind of like my picture.
