My current setup is 2 150W HQI bulbs in 20K and 2 96W actinic PC bulbs. Needles to say, the light is very blue. I'd like to warm my spectrum up a bit, but would like some advice on what people feel would be the best way to do so. I could swap my HQI bulbs out for 10K and leave the PC actinics, or I could swap my PCs for 10K units, or change the HQI to 10K and PCs to 50/50. I'm leaning towards changing the HQIs to 10K and leaving the PCs. It's a 24" deep tank, and everything is doing fine, but I feel they could be doing BETTER. I have mostly LPS with a few softies, but I'd really like to get a clam or two one day. I'm comfortable with their care, but I think I'm a bit low on lighting for a clam on the bottom of the tank.
So, what are peoples thoughts?
couple things..
first, i think you mean cool it off, not warm it up.. heating it would be even more blue.. ;) red/yellow is cooler..
anyway, that said i would change the MH out for 10K bulbs and leave the actinics.. thats JMO.. :)

I agree with rob. I really like the look of a strong 10k MH bulb backed with a actinic bulb. The 10k will bring out the strong "white" light and then the actinic will level it off to look amazing.

Thanks for the advice. Technicaly, Rob is right. The higher the Kelvin number, the bluer the light, but I menat warmer colors, not temperature. It's just semantics. Thanks again for the input, that's what I was leaning towards anyway.
