Happy New Year!!

Hope all is well.

Over the past few weeks I have almost finished putting in the rest of my DSB. So now Im ready to put in my sump/fuge. Right before Christmas I aquired a used 55gal tank, stand, with all the fixins for about 55 bucks. So now I planed on using it for my sump/fuge. While doing some research on it I came across an article on removable baffles. I thought this idea was great. Just in case I ever want to use this tank for a desplay I still have that option. Here is the link to the sight

baffles (http://www.wetwebmedia.com/ca/volume_3/cav3i1/Baffles/baffles.htm)

Hope its alright for me to put that up here. Anyway I would like to hear all of your opinions on this. I probably will start on this project this week and if I can figure out the girlfriends camara I will post pictures.

I do have a question to pose about this though. Do you think plexiglass will be ok for this project? I went to HD today and they have glass, plexiglass, and Im not sure if they have acrylic. Or will acrylic have some sort of reaction to the salt water?

Cheers!

plexiglass would be fine but you will want to get some of the thickest stuff they have so it will be able to handle the flow. i ran across that DIY pressure locking baffle project AFTER (2 days) i got my sump done. let me know how it works out for you, so i can do it next time.

interesting concept... hope it works for you.

Personally, I see any type of moveable/removeable baffle as one big potential failure point.

Additionally, I have seen that weather stripping decompose over time. I doubt it is food-grade material, and I definitely wouldn't want it floating around in my tank if something went wrong.
