Im getting ready to set up a 75g tank and i need some insight on some good websites to order LR from. local fish stores are asking in excess of $6.00/lb. im looking to spend around 2.50-3.00/lb shipped which i'll probably order around 100lbs.

$6 a lb. isn't all that bad. I payed $9-12 for some really nice live rock, and about $4 a lb. for some wet base rock. If I were to do it all again I would probably just get a few pieces of live and use mostly base rock.

If you consider base rock I really recommend Marco Rocks a TR sponsor. I just ordered some rubble from them and was really impressed. I'd not hesitate to order from them.

I picked up some live rock from "thatpetplace" about 4 months ago. There prices are pretty good. I was able to get some Solomon Island live rock for $3.99 a pound (they were having a sale, which they often do). I live in MD so I went to the store and picked my rock out, to avoid shipping. But their prices on shipping are not bad either.

yea $5-6.lb is outrageous. i just moved to tulsa, ok from houston tx, and most fish stores sell LR for no more than $4.lb i bought 130lbs from one store and they gave me a discount at $3.50.lb. but thats in houston.. im out of luck here so i figure i'd try an online website or something.

1.99/lbs here: http://www.exoticfish.com/results.cfm?cat=0|1977|1690|0|0&

Its alright. I'd get a few pieces of really good LR to further seed the stuff you get from there, and then add another 25 lbs or so in base rock from Marco rocks, which is an amazing price for some very sexy rocks.

Upward of 8 bucks a pound over here. Really crappy stuff for 4.99 at one store.... the know that kind that has zero color except for diatom brown.

as noted i prefer to start with mostly base rock adn seed with a few pieces of LR.
in this manner, you can get a few pieces of LR locally, and then get the rest in base rock.
i too have tried Marcorocks and am very impressed with them

you can check out there sponsor forum here and ask any questions you may have and also check in to see if there are any deals for TR members

Ha my LR problems have been solved, well all my problems have been solved. Ive been trying to sell my ps3 60gb so i can go buy my fish tank. this guy saw my classified and said he would trade me a 75g RR oceanic, 110lb LR, 2 150w MH, sand, EV180 skimmer, and 2 pumps for my ps3, games, bluray movies, and wires, so i told him i was gonna go by later on this week to go check out the tank make sure it was in good condition. He said its been up and running for 8 months he had seahorses in it but sold em so the tank is just running with no fishes or anything.

He's trading you maybe $800 worth of videogames for what sounds like around $2000 of fish stuff?

I am so jealous :(

Oh most definitely guys, i will be setting up a journal on this one. and all the stuff he is giving me is near $3000 bucks, all his stuff is as old as the tank has been up and running so its fairly new. im giving him about $1100 in PS3 crap so i think i come out winner here. plus i still got my xbox 360 or wii:) who needs a PS3 when you can have a fish tank!
