I wanna build up my aquascape a bit, but figured its not worth paying for new LR... so is there any reason not to build up what I want with base rock? I've got 100 lbs of LR between my 75gal +30 gal sump/fuge, so I figured the base rock would eventually be seeded and become LR. Plus then I can avoid a bunch of mini cycles.

Any reason at all not to do this?

go for it, its a great idea, and is how i got most of the rock in my tank.. :)

Yup, thats where I was planning on getting it from. Gonna wait until I'm sure I have enough... I'm ordering my metal halid setup tomorrow. Not sure how much money I'm gonna have left after that :(
