Hay I bought one of those stealth heaters 100w for my 29gal. I have had running for 3.5 hours and my tank has only went from 67 to 68.4 what gives? Am I doing something wrong?

where is the location of the heater? Do you have strong flow around it?

no I just filled my tank to start my cycle today have yet to buy a powerhead. I have it horizontal about a quarter down from the top of the tank. Does it usually take a long time to heat up?

if the tank that you are trying to heat doesnt have any flow then yes it could take sometime, Not sure how long but without flow to circulate the water the heater is working harder and longer to heat that area. Once you get your powerheads in the tank then it should level itself out pretty good.

ahh ok that sounds right. Once I buy a more suitable hose that can start my syphon to keep up with my pump then I will have some water circulation and I can move my heater from my tank to my sump. Thanks

ok I had problems with the 100 watt being in the sump I couldnt get to get past 72 degrees so I went with the 200 watt and I am having the same problems. could it be a circulation problem?

that is what it sounds like to me...
i ran my 29 gallon tank and sump (10-15gl) all on a 150w heater for a while.

I have a 29gal with a 15gal sump My heater is a 150w and i placed it right by the return pump underneath the baffle so the water will circulate around it and then return to the DT. it works perfect for me. took less than 5 hours to heat when i setup the tank. my DT is at 81.? and the sump stays at 80.5.

yea my heater is about 2ft from my return pump. I had to cover my tank with tinfoil and my sump lol. I put in my other heater in the DT and now it's going up.
