It is the first of December and my chiller is running! My lights have been out for 2 hours. You are not supposed to need a chiller in December in NC! Understand, I am not complaining about the mild weather, just about my chiller running!

What is the recommended range of temps. I keep my heater set at 78 and at the end of the light cycle the temp is up to 83.4. Is that too much a change? There is a buddy in the Philipines who has a web page and he monitors the reef temp. It ranges all over the 80's and even hits the low 90's.
So what gives?

Welcome to TR, I keep my tank at a steady 82 degrees. The temp of your tank is all based on what you keep in it. Colder stuff needs colder waters 76-78 and wamrer needs warmer 80-82. What type of life do you have in your tank?
