This is my first time posting on this message board. Just wanted to say that the shows are great and informative.
I actually have a question on your show for the salifert Ca Test Kit.
In your video I noticed that you wait till it turns a purple color. My test kit instructions say that I should wait till it turns a clear blue. I always questions myself on the way I was doing this test kit but Now Im unsure If I have been testing it right.
HELP!!!!!

Hi jcg,
:welcome: to TR.
I was the impetus for that video. :) There is an old thread out here asking "What color is clear blue?"
The directions are not very good in this test. What you are looking for is the color change, not the exact color.
yep, here is a link to that thread where all that is discussed.. :)

kinda off on this but does anyone know if they make more "exact" tools for this test and would it be worth the extra $$$. id like to more more "exact" but would it really be required.
there are digital test kits, but using them and refilling them is VERY expensive relative to the liquid kits.
and how much more accurate are they?
well they will give you an exact reading, no questions about that, but how accurate is that reading? im sure its good, but i cant compare it to a liquid kit, but i would say its t last as good hopefully better...
im sorry i cant find a link to them now.. will keep looking though

thats what i thought but i wasnt sure cause i couldnt find digital in my quick search before i got out of my class this mourning i no like PH are extremely expensive. but im looking at them thinking that one day ill build up to haveing them or win the lottery.
yes, the digital PH gives you a constant reading, the other digital test in question still need reagents and chemical mixing, but the output will be given on a digital readout. what this means is that you still have to replace.refill the reagents
