This is a pic of what I think is Peyssonnelia sp. At first I thought it was a darker Coraline but its not hard like coraline would be

I'm not big on marine algea so take what I say with a grain of salt. I just thought I would share my experience. I'm not sure about the maroon coraline looking algea, but the two in the centerlooks like is a form of kelp or caulerpa. It looks like the same algea that comes in on my floridian rock all the time and is devoured by my tangs. Do you have any tangs in your tank. As for the maroon coraline algea stuff does it ever peal off or bubble? How rapidly does it grow? The first pick you posted yesterday does infact look like a possible threat, it may be a form of a bacteria.

No Tangs Its only a 24 gal nano so I do the manual removal. The maroon stuff does not peal or bubble it just spreads.

I have a few patches of dark maroon stuff that looks velvety. It ebbs and flows but never seems to cause a problem.

Ooooh I feel for you man... My seahorse tank was being taken over by multiple algae too. I had an "oopsie" that started the downward spiral. I've done a few things...

Aggressive water changes
Reduction in feeding - target feeding rather than "broadcast" for some species
shorter "swap cycle" for my light bulbs
Introduction of an urchin.
and..because I don't have a "reef", I put in more macro algae.

Do you use RO/DI water?

Do you have any stony corals in there? If not, do you keep calcium at elevated levels? If so, why?
