Well howdy all, i am coming at you live from somewhere in Florida i don't like, of course its becuase im at this resort that would feel at home in the '70s, and coming from disney world for what could be my last ,or second last if i chance next year time for another 10-12 years, one can be mighty bitter.
Enough about my unhappiness, and back to nemo (the topic of this discussion)
The first land i had the privalage of going to this year was epcot. My favorite attraction within epcot being the living seas (not very top notch compared to other aquariums ie been to) but its still fish and its still cool.
So upon entering my hotel room (the previous night, btw i know this is choppy, but its almost 4:00am and ive been on the road for 4 hours, bear with me) and turning on the t.v I noticed they had created a finding nemo ride at the seas.
So i enter the attraction, and wait about 4 times longer than when it was the living sea's. I figure that it would all be worth it in the end becuase its nemo ( <------ is a lie, ive learned not to trust nemo over the years :s ) So i load into my "clam-mobile" and set off. It was probably the worst thing i had ever been on. It starts off with a plastic coral reef cave (about 3/4's of the ride) with little t.v screens with fish darting accross them (story is nemo is hiding from everyone and they are trying to find him, big captivator). So after the tremendously dissapointing cave...the fish start to sing... that's right ladies and gentlemen, its the fishy- version of "its a small world after all". Near the end though they had this cool effect where you could look through to the real tanks and it appeared as though nemo and friends were swimming amongst the real fish. This would have been cool if they were'nt all singing an annoying, repetative song.
So i get off the ride, knowing there are rooms of fish and coral to tours through (like there was the last time i came, and as advertised on the commercial), and walk into a line for "turtle talk with crush" (i don't even want to get into that *shakes head in shame*). I squeeze through the 5 year olds, strollers, and the crying fishy-folks ( :p haha :p) and walk into a room. They had the head of "bruce" the shark that people could pose in and that was it.
I then walked up the stairs to the "observation level" where you could view the big tanks and the other research rooms with the corals and fish ( at least where they were) and found that the fish in the big tanks were far from perfect (i wasn't expecting much, what's a little fish worth when you have dolphins <-------sarcasm) , you could not see into the tanks futher than 10 feet (i would say that the tanks were at least 30 feet deep), and other things i won't get into becuase either a) I don't know if it is much of an issue or b) i don't care enough right now
So i walked out of the big tank area and into the little research rooms.....only to find that there was only one left out of the four and the other three were blocked off and the windows painted so they could be used as research rooms or something.
The one room that wasn't blocked had a manatee tank in it and that was cool becuase i have never seen a manatee in person (but my little brother was with me, so i only got about 5 minutes to watch the sea cows/ read the liturature on the walls etc...). they had two and they are big.
Yes manatees are cool to me, but they could not save the seas from nemo i regret to inform you all.
My day was not ruined (only that hour :( ) thanks to the coolness of the rest of epcot. But that as still something i was greatly looking forward to, and to find that it had been nemo-nized was very dissapointing to me.
But that was only one hour of a three day disney world vacation, so im okay. Im just happy i have internet and can now check back with everyone after almost a week of being away from civilization (or internet :p)
So yeah, thats my story, and im happy im back :D
