Hi,
I don't know if this has been suggested or not or if it's already part of the show (I'm only on Ep 38), but it'd be cool to have a segment that focuses on a particular reef species, be it a fish, a coral, or some other inverts. Or you might just pick particular critters from you own tank, Rob, and do a segment on that species.

great idea. even getting moderately into good husbandry for some species could get to be a lengthy topic but i for one would love to hear it at least once a month

NaClFinatic, I second that.

Rob, maybe you could do one on Zoanthids? LOL JK

I think that this is a good idea. It would be beneficial and might help someone avoid getting something that is not good for their tank or skill level.

Great idea though id like it to be of decent length if its not long then its not that great and i insist that we use scientific names if yall do that. i no yall are good about it but i just felt i had to insist.

I love the idea...

Off topic here....

Kevin, is that your Emperor Angelfish? If it is I would love for you to start another thread about how it's maturation is going.... I see it's actively changing in your avatar!

I agree with the thrust of the thread. Even if you did a segment on say, dwarf angels, or damsel fish -- slightly broader categories in order to give you enough material to work with.

Ya, a mandarin would be a good choice. They are always available, generally affordable, have a great personality, are nice and hardy when dietary concerns are not an issue, are absolutely beautiful............. and yet with all those great features they are one of the fish that still often die in our tanks because some don't know or practice/provide them with what they need.

I also have a nice picture to go with a write up on them.... LOL. (It's one of my favs)

Oooh, yeah! A show about the Mandarin would be fantastic! It'd be a great topic to tie in with refugiums, copepods/amphipods, and ways to increase your copepod/amphipod populations. Like, how many of those tiny shrimp can a mandarin eat in a week or month and how do you keep up with their eating pace? How much do your other fish eat up the copepods and how to compensate for that? Basically, how do you over produce your copepod/amphipod populations to make sure you have enough to go around? What do you feed your pods?

Man... all kinds of topics go along with this little fish! :)

i have a constant supply of brine shrimp from LFS which i added zoecon when i bring them home. i fed my mandarin several meals a day with the pumps off. my mandarin learns to follow the targer feeder pippette and waits for its shrimp =]

oh I love the idea of a news letter. Although I love the podcast I am sometimes just happy to read rather then listen.
