Hopeful someone can help me identify this coral I purchsed at my LFS. It was labeled a FAVIA, but it sure seems to have a lot of shared coralite walls (making it a favites?)
I have attached a couple of photos:cool: Please help! Tanks!:D

Favites_complanata?
I think
Great thought. I found some supporting photos from a Google search. The more I look at it, the more I continue to question the LFS' "favia" designation.....:o
im going favite, favia tend to be more fleshy, and extend out kinda like a shroom (very loose description)

No doubt a favites just for the characteristic you named in the beginning. Favites share walls.... favia definately do not and that is one of their most distinguishing separateably characteristic.

distinguishing separateably characteristic.
I don't know very many "big" words... I think that is all 3 of them right there. :p
EDIT:
Oops.... I'm new here and seem to be digging up some old threads without realizing it. I'm poking around and trying to get a feel for the place.

They can live without food items with good lighting but they grow well when fed meaty foods. They will take bigger food items that you think they will.
