I came home tonight and it looks like my maroon clown has stuff on its nose. The stuff is silvery/white and it sticks up from the surface a little. It does not look fuzzy like a fungus. It was not there yesterday. Whatever it is my clown is acting normal and does not seem to be scratching. Here is a picture http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f198/CarmieJo/DSC_0130_clown_stuff.jpg
Any ideas what this might be?

aww cute pic!
I wouldn't worry. My clowns always seem to have white things come and go. He could have tried to eat a bristleworm or something and scratched his mouth all up. I would keep an eye on him for any abnormal behavior or the white stuff getting bigger.
I've successfully done freshwater dips on my clowns for a natural treatment.

Mine gets white "milk spots" all the time but I had never seen anything that looked like it was raised. Anyway, when I got home tonight the stuff is gone with just a little spot left. Weird, huh?

Mine had a small white spot on his chin about a week ago. Two days later, and it was gone.

But they are cheaper than fish food.

In that case, may I suggest bagels? They are low fat, boiled rather than fried, contain far less sugars and no enriched flour, and best of all.......they are kosher.

I don't know about powdered but our local bagel shop has cinnamon sugar ones that are delicious. Of course they probably don't have any of the benefits of real bagels!
