well i know i have mentioned it before, but one of the things i do is get corals from my LFS that are normally large colonies that sit in his tank for too long and dont do well.
Rob to the rescue, i get these corals real cheap or free with that idea that i will work to recover them and nurse them back to health..

here is one i wanted to share..

This is an Echinopora that i watch (painfully) decline in a LFS, it started off with a BEAUTIFUL blue tissue with bright pink polyps. problem was he was charing quite a bit for it.. i mean it was reasonable, it was beautiful. but out of my price range.. so after a few month it sat there, and declined..

as you can see above it was almost totally bleached.
here you can see a lot of the tissue is recovering, and if you look closely you can see the pink is coming back.. in person, or the larger image you can see that on the right some of the blue tint is even coming back.. anyways here it is

Looking good. I too have a few of the LFS "Hey this is almost dead do you want it?" corals.

yeah, its good to get those opportunities..
its sucks though, when you see corals like this one knowing its not going to sell.
like i said, while it may have been worth it, it was $80 for the whole thing, and where i live corals priced that high in a LFS dont sell very quick

your LFS doesn't have the ability to keep things alive for prolonged periods?
is $80+ expensive for coral in the states?


this one was 3/4 cactus, it could have tipped ether way rob!. its great to see recovery. cant quite see the blue, but can see the pink/purple coming though.
what duration was this one to date?

The pictures were taken about a month apart

is it a lot? well for the full colony, and since it "did" have very nice coloration, not really...

I realize that yours is pink/blue and mine is green but I am trying to get a firm ID on it so I know best how to care for it. I was told that it was echinopora but then it was ID'd as possible being hydnophora.

i dont think so, im not extremely familiar with all the Echinoporas, but its doesnt look like it
