ions would enevitably become trapped yes, but as a whole if your H2O atoms can pass freely whilst bonded molucules are striped your other ions should still remain intact

But of course, ionic strengh of your H2O atoms based on environmental conditions can vary with fluctuations in hydrogen and carbonate availability. :eek:

Not sure if people are using carbon every day or for three days at a time-1/month. I guess different products have different recommendations. I would like to hear how you are using activated carbon?
If you are doing the 3 day routine, do you put the carbon in before or after a water change?
This was edited from th original just to show how quick I tend to save posts. Carbon after a water change? Make sense? Why would I want to remove the trace minerals I just added from the water change by using activated carbon?:doh:
