Does anyone know anything about this RED Phytoplankton Rhodomonas? It is said to have both EPA and DHA proteins. I found it while searching for phyto on EBAY.

More info can be found at this site http://www.livephytoplankton.com.

Has anyone used it? Is it truely the silver bullet of phytoplankton? Can you split it like Nannochloropsis and others?

I can't seem to find much information on Rhodomonas. I emailed the Ebayer, no response yet.

Rhodomonas lens or salina. It is a high DHA microalgae (one component of PhycoPure) and is motile (a swimmer). It is traditionally used to raise more fastidious species. Definitely good for pelagic copepods such as Acartia tonsa. My experience is that it likes cooler temperatures doing best at 18-22/23C. Under the scope it is irridescent red..cool stuff. I do not think it is the easiest to grow but it is cool having red cultures.

Thank you Eric. So I am better off with T. Isochyrsi right? I was wondering is T. Isochyrsi brown, or considered a brown phyto? I am going to start my first series of phyto and am now in the process of getting all the materials for splitting. Infact the last thing I have to get is the culture. From the Phyto thread I believe you and other TR members favored T. Isochyrsi. Will this strain be hard or should I start with nano?
