Well I don't really advocate it but that is another story. The question is I am trying to join a piece of Locline to a PVC pipe with poor results. I am using the PVC/ABS cement. What am I doing wrong? This is on my return line from the refugium(first time for that too) Thanks for your time , you guys have always been helpful. Dass:o

as with any bond the surface has to be preped properly, try using sand paper to scuff the connecting pieces, & make sure its completely dry before u apply the cement! i dont know what locline is, im assuming clear tubing or flex tubing of some type yeah? using chopsticks on short lengths are good for pushing the inner walls out to bond with the larger diameter in cases where its not a snug fit to start with! chopsticks where designed for this in mind didn't u know! lol

Thanks for the info. Lockline is a type of flexible hard ABS plastic which is jointed so that you can turn it in many different positions. It works well (they tell me) for the return lines to the main tank(in my case joining on to a 3/4 inch PVC pipe.) This is where the problem seems to occur,I had no prob with the PVC joints, but these are 2 different materials. I am surprised that you have not heard of this type of tubeing. We have it here in Canada. Maybe I can find a link for you. Thanks Dass

there are i/2 and 3/4 inch male pipe thread fittings from loc-line that will are the same threads as pvc. there is no need to glue.

Wally's got the right idea. You need an adaptor to go from PVC slip joint to a thread, either male or female and which one is determined by the Locline fitting you have.

The plastics used in PVC and Locline are different and cannot be glued together.
