I have a 90 gallon with 440 watt VHO lighting. When I first got it I had two URI Aquasun bulbs and two URI Actinic 03 bulbs. Then I switched to two Actinic White and two Actinic 03 bulbs, just cause I like how it looked and most of the LFS coral tanks were like that. Which is better for my corals?

i feel that my corals did better with Actinic White. I also did not like the look of Aquasun.

Cool, sounds like you two hold the same opinions on it as I do. I didn't have the best reason to switch, but it seems like it paid off. I was just wondering if anyone knew what the color temp was on the two of them, and which was better for coral growth/health.

the aquasun is 6700k, and the actinic-white is their version of a 50/50.

Ok, I am a bit confused sorry, from the sounds of it you have technically way more actinic lighting then white light(2 actnic bulbs and 2 50/50), is this sufficient white lighting for all corals since I thought the 50/50s only produced 6500K.

I have a similar question as I have a new 125 gallon and I have a 4x160 vho light fixture and a 4x 30 NO light fixture and was wondering how best to divide up the bulbs and what should I put in both fixtures only the vho lighting has separate on/off for the bulbs.

thank you
Mark

Is there any "better brand" of VHO bulbs? I've been using URI Super Actinic and Actinic White, but when I compare prices, or look on ebay, it seems that I may be paying higher for the name.

What should the spectrum/color temp be for 50/50 bulbs (Actinic White?)

URI has been around a long time, and most of their bulbs are sold direct market....so no middlemen in between. they are NOT expensive in my opinion. i myself will stick to a brand i trust. forget the cheapies, any company can just buy any bulb from some obscure company in china and elsewhere and sell it under some common but unproven spec.
