Maybe I'll take a pic of my cleaner on my hand/arm....but it won't hold a candle to having it sitting on an eel. :D wwest 07-16-2006, 11:28 PM they are cool together. we are hoping someday that the shrimp will ride the eel lol veriann 07-17-2006, 06:26 AM why is it snow stormy in the tank? im assuming preditor tank only..lol
but thats got to be a cool ride, being on the back is one thing, how close to the mouth does the (snowflake?) eel let it get? Amphibious 07-17-2006, 07:52 AM I think this is kinda cool. There she blows.

thats my buddy's tank after we got done redoing it :)
thats about as close to the mouth as it gets :)
nice clam Amphibious thats pretty cool when they do that.. looks like a teslata eel to me, they are usually more aggressive than snowflake eels..
i'm surprised that shrimp is alive at all.. ;) fat walrus 07-17-2006, 05:09 PM looks like a teslata eel to me, they are usually more aggressive than snowflake eels..

sorry Rob. that is a snowflake. a tessalata has a thicker body, different head shape, and very different pattern. what you see is a snowflake in its adult pattern. ;) Amphibious 07-17-2006, 05:24 PM Sorry Rob, I have to agree with blubber on the ID of the Moray. Also, fish, even eels recognize the usefulness of the cleaner shrimp and it would be a rare event indeed for anyone, fish or eel, to eat a cleaner shrimp. fat walrus 07-17-2006, 08:58 PM http://www.talkingreef.com/forums/gallery/files/5/8/3/deprsm.JPG
here's a picture taken by my friend yesterday. my mated pair of HW dragons arguing. :o wwest 07-17-2006, 09:00 PM dude what are those? they look cool and scary lol.. i dont think i would of spot feed them lol Amphibious 07-17-2006, 10:15 PM Hey, blubber, those are cool. Mated pair means no spawning activity. Any hopes of spawning? CarmieJo 07-17-2006, 10:15 PM dude what are those? they look cool and scary lol.. i dont think i would of spot feed them lol
You got that right! fat walrus 07-17-2006, 10:41 PM http://www.talkingreef.com/forums/gallery/files/5/8/3/femaledragon.JPG
here's the female. the male is actually much more colorful, but won't stay still for a good shot. wwest 07-17-2006, 10:44 PM those are pretty cool lookin. how long have you had them? Amphibious 07-17-2006, 10:48 PM Count the kids Honey, I think one's missing.
How do you tell the sexes apart? Have they spawned yet? (Asked earlier) fat walrus 07-17-2006, 10:55 PM i've had them for nearly 2 years. i had 2 individuals before, but both times they busted out of the tank. this pair's tank has 12 locks on the lids. fat walrus 07-17-2006, 11:01 PM How do you tell the sexes apart? the male has orange extending down his the front of his throat. the nostrils and vents have deep red. and when you look down the inside of his throat, he actually has color rings as far in as you can see. the circle pattern is richer and has more contrast. there has been no spawning activity that i know off, i believe they are too young. Amphibious 07-17-2006, 11:19 PM Wow, cool. A spawn from them would help offset that cherry fishroom. Amphibious 07-17-2006, 11:21 PM How big do those get? fat walrus 07-17-2006, 11:23 PM Wow, cool. Amp, stay tuned. i'm trying to upload a better picture that shows the difference better. fat walrus 07-17-2006, 11:40 PM http://www.talkingreef.com/forums/gallery/files/5/8/3/dptwosm.JPG
here's another angle to show the difference between male and female. the male is on the right. as you can see (i hope), the pattern on the lower jaw looks like it is reverse of each other, it is not.......you have to see it close up. fat walrus 07-17-2006, 11:42 PM How big do those get?
about four feet. Amphibious 07-18-2006, 06:08 AM OMG. What size tank are they in? What are they eating?
They look great!
Thanks for sharing. fat walrus 07-18-2006, 06:17 AM OMG. What size tank are they in? What are they eating?

the tank is about 210 gals, depending on how you do the math.....lol.
i feed them tiger prawns, giant scallops, cherrystone clams, miyagi oysters, razor clams, green-lipped mussels, dungeness crabs, and MAINE lobster tails. veriann 07-18-2006, 06:26 AM i like what you;'ve done with your hair blubberhttp://www.talkingreef.com/forums/gallery/files/5/8/3/femaledragon.JPG

my wife does complain about that. don't know what to say. i just always tell her that it is required with the eels.......hehe. don't anyone let the cat out of the bag! Amphibious 07-18-2006, 06:44 AM Isn't she going to wonder why "the old man" in the cherry fish room eats his meals there instead of joining her at the dinner table? fat walrus 07-18-2006, 06:52 AM Isn't she going to wonder why "the old man" in the cherry fish room eats his meals there instead of joining her at the dinner table?
i'll tell her that you are a quaint distant uncle who hail from WEST VIRGINIA and had spent the last 2 decades looking into the FLORIDA sun. :rotfl:
besides, the eating is going to be better, all that seafood and non of the family politics. lol  veriann 07-18-2006, 06:53 AM hello, hellooo, i mistakenly drunk that invisable potion instead of solo!
my attempt in recreating hail damage by grabing a handful of gravel to throw at stomach has fallen on deaf ears! :madmad:what ever happened to knee-blub-reaction? Amphibious 07-18-2006, 06:59 AM V, you trashed Paris? fat walrus 07-18-2006, 07:09 AM V, what kind of action? did you expect me to melt because of remark about what i have done to my hair or the how my eyes really stand out? i'm a seasoned tramp. you better see that you show more respect for my..............my........................my...... .............................. veriann 07-18-2006, 07:11 AM aheem, by contrast some didn't feel comfortable with 2cmx2cm beauty!
