ok a few weeks ago i purchased a new light its a coralife aqualight power compact. daylight, actinic, and lunar oh and it also has three cords with three switches, i am very impressed how it helped and look. anywho, after i got them my heat started to rise. i would say around 4-6 degrees. so today i decided to turn the fans arround. there are 4 fan wholes two on each side, however only one side has them, blowing in.. so i took them and turned them around to blow out. the light seems to be cooling slowly but the heat is still there. does anyone have any ideas to get the heat down even more?

thanks in advance

ok i guess that answers my question in the other forum. i have the same exact lights. yah the fixture produces lots of heat. i would suggest getting the foot stands for the light and putting a small fan to help cool.

if you remove the glass top it will run cooler, but more evaporation, more salt creep, fish might jump out, and you must remember to keep your light very clean.

Yeah, I was running full glass tops but I quit. My fish don't seem to be the jumping kind and I was told it was better for oxygen exchange. Also, they are a pain to keep clean!

come one wes, go topless.. :)
wildeones, got it, better for gas exchange, and will let your tank run cooler.

try it and see the difference.
depending on your setup, the salt creep may not be that bad. i run all my tanks topless, and the salt creep on the tank isnt bad at all, more issues with the sump and stuff like that
