I just want TR members to realize the launch of Discovery today scheduled for 3:49 pm Eastern.

This shot was taken early this morning................

Pray for a safe launch, mission and return.

Here's a link to NASA and a streaming tv coverage - http://www.nasa.gov/externalflash/sts-121_front/index.html

You can watch the events unfold as they happen. My wife and I are heading up the Space Coast to get a closer view of the launch.

Have a great!

Dick

well sunday i will be watching! slight delay, but thats raceing.
i do hope your boys make it up without a hitch. we need the projected 16flights on a global level to bring us where we should be. Alot of people dont understand what the fuss about space is, besides pushing the fronters doing it, when something goes horridly wrong on earth, i'll be saying sorry to these people, cause u cant come along. only the ones supporting the efforts along the course can re-populate another planet! lol>>>>& this is definately a job for me!

I've seen two of them. They are awesome!

What a day. One and one half hours to get there and four hours to get home. The first hour was dead stopped in traffic for one hour. Did not move an inch. Then 1 1/2 hour to get out of little Tittusville and 1 1/2 hours back home. As awesome as it is, I think tomorrow I'll watch from the comfort of home. Although.......

The two best LFSs in the area are up near there. I was going to stop on the way home but the traffic delay put us past their hours of operation. Hmmm...What to do, what to do? :p

The ride home was ugly. Tested my patience to the edge. I kid you not!!! My wife was amazed I didn't lose it and said, "The door to heaven will swing open wider for you for not losing your cool".

Grrrrrrrrrr!!!

You may have watched it on TV as I did. Didn't want to fight the crowd again as on Saturday. It would be worse today being the 4th of July.

Here's what it looked like from my house approx 100 miles South of the launch site......

what can be more fitting than a launch on INDEPENDENCE DAY! God is watching over AMERICA, and the astronauts.

its just a pitty we dont have a space program. how many steves can one universe handle? we'd be riding rockets like a man after a 12ft croc! with a piece of rope in one hand & a tinnie in the other listening to old slim dusty records whilst trying to tame an out of control beast with harsh language!:madmad:
