yeah, you looking for flexible vinyl tubing, acrylic tubing
the vinyl tubing you can get from any hardware store, and most LFS.
the acrylic tube might be a bit harder. a hardware store might have it, but you might have to order it online

:) mad plan? or great plan? :) we have a 55gallon tank at work and we need to put a skimmer on it so i was going to make a 20 sump with a home made skimmer. figure it would be a cool project and its something we need so we can start putting stuff in the tank lol

acrylic will be better than clear pvc. we have stores here that just sell acrylic and other plastics. they usually refer to it as clear cylinder. get cell-casted if they have it, it will work better for skimmers than exstruded acrylic. it is not cheap....go for bigger diameter for better contact time. most of the time, you can buy it by the inch in length, and also pre-cut and routed.

Try here: www.mcmaster.com or www.usplastic.com.

Actually, I just bought acylic for my homemade skimmer in one foot sections, in 3", 4", and 6" diameters from an eBay store: http://stores.ebay.com/eStreetPlastics What I bought was extruded acrylic tube, which in my opinion is fime for home use. McMaster-Carr listed above had cell cast which is a little more expensive.

Here's how my skimmer turned out: http://www.talkingreef.com/forums/gallery/showimage.php?i=237&catid=searchresults&searchid=9
