ok sorry I am not a good at drawing so I will have to try to explaine I have a 194 gallon 734 leter tank with two 1 1/2 inch drains I am guessing each over flow would be 1400 gph and 2 3/4 inch returns and four outputs. I am trying to run a Red Dragon 8.2 internal pumbing then run a seperate peice to the sump which I am placing in the sump a Gen-x pump rated at 1170 Gph will pump it back to th tank and out I estimate 12-14 feet from the sump. so my theroy is branch the the two 1 1/2 overflows together and to the Red Dragon then a three way off the pump raise it up and then down to the sump. and then the gen-x and RD pump the water pack out to the tank.. via the 3/4 inch I did a drawing but I am really bad I know this ashamed of my drawing but have no choice I think I will be fine with the Dragon I used flexable pcv 3/4 this should reduse the RD pump I would guess to 2000 gph then branching of to the pump 1170 gph and need to go up about 12-14 feet specs on the pump are Max. Flow: 75L/Min 19.84GPM 1190GPH Max Head: 6.8M 22 feet
down to the basement and back up to a three way back to the overflows and back out to the jets. I beleave I am set up good for this do you think the 3/4 inch tubing will have a problem with maybe 2800 GPH being pump though it?

can you go 1 inch before to reducing to 3/4 nozzles?. high flow circulation pumps like red dragons don't like restrictions. also, instead of the dead ends at each side, why not tie it together to equalize pressure?

problem with the rd in getting something to fit it metric to inches the flex pcv has a good conection I could go 1" right after the pump then back to the overflow box and out.. yeah I was thinking the same thing on the nozzle do you think going to 1" from the rd to the overflows will help proban; 4 feet total

okay, the drawing is a little confusing. leave everything else out of the equation. where is the rd drawing water from? and where is it all going to?

yeah I know I am bad lol there are two 1 1/2 overflows I will use a two three ways one going to the RD and the other branch going to the sump the RD gets the water 1st pumps it in and out what it can't handle falls though the floor to the sump then gets pumped back up..

you plan to feed the rd from pipes out of the overflow?

from the 2 overflows water intake 1 1/2" of them to the dragon then down to the sump the rd out out conects to the 3/4" to the output on the over flow as would the sump pump.. I know I am bad at this,,

out flow is 3/4 inch flow to the rd amd sump 1 1/2" 1 1/2 in 3/4 out

okay. it seem like you are in serious risk of burning out a thousand dollar pump by possibly sucking air. why not draw the water from the bottom of the overflows and whatever the rd cannot take will go down its own standpipe down to the sump?

i'll retract on the last statement.

2 intakes into > 4 way splitter> one leading to the sump, the other joining the return line from the sump to the 2 outputs for the main display(is this acting like a head booster)
third pump from the sump correct

labman is there a real need for the middle pump leading a recirculation back to the display? or should this be flow dirrected towards or back to the sump!

is this flex pvc spa tubing? they have metric in this stuff!

serously getting furustrated though I want to get the new tank in place so I can show it off next weekend to everyvody including Rob maybe he will be so impressed to do a video podcast on it.. the other thought and I guess think this is for Fat Walrus since he knows the red dragon pumps my other option would be use it as a sump pump not my favorite choice beleave me but don't want it burned out sell the gen-x pump and get a 2nd vortech or simuler pump dowm the road or maybe skip the RD all togeather sell it probably at a big loss :madmad: and buy another vortech and just skip the whole in line pump thing which had I seen the vortech when I got the rd I might have opted for..

wqell that is the debate needless to say I might have out thought myself and bought the cool pretty RD pump needlessly I know you guts aren't sold on the vortech yet but I am wondering is two vortech had been a simpler and maybe better optoin found out about the new vortechs a couple months after I ordered this pump.. I might have over though myself on tyhis one and might loose some bucks :madmad:
