First off, great show, have been downloading it to my mp3 player and listening everyday at work.

I think one suggestion that might be worth while is to have a tank of the month and then have that person talk about their setup and philosophy about the tank on the pod cost.

Sort of like how hot rod does thier cars. You see the pictures (posted on the site) and then holds an interview with the builders.

I know that I love to hear about how others got into the hobby, challenges they had to over come, and the neat tricks they did to get something going.

its something i have been thinking about doing. something very close to how http://www.Reefkeeping.com does there tank of the month, only instead of it being written, it will be audio on the show.

IMHO the main advantage to this site is the fact that it uses the audio medium as opposed to the written medium, therefore would people really benefit that much from a TOTM contest? :confused: What about a Tip of the Month, which would not require any visual aids at all and could all be done through either submissions on this board or a call in?

Chris- A new thing on TR is vidcasts- check those out. We would like to have people submit a vidcast about their tank which would be perfect for TOTM contest winners too.

Tip of the Month is good too. I know Rob likes to dig deep into topics and get a good discussion going, rather than short tips. Feel free to discuss topics you would like on the show.

yes, i do prefer to take a topic and cover it fully.. maybe not to the 'nth degree, but lots of info.

the tank vidcasts are something i want to start, but have to figure out the logistics, of making it easy for people to submit there video and such so i can edit it

i am always interested in tips, i have forum setup just for this, so please feel free to submit any you may have

I like the idea of a tank of the month. Yes - photos are great, and those could be posted on the website. But an interview with the winner would be fun and could be quite educational. Some of the best information I've learned has been with casual conversations with other fish and reefkeepers. Instead of the typical "this is how you should do it" you get from most LFS, fellow hobbiests tend to say "this is how I do it" or "this is what works for me". And while a t-shirt would be nice, I think just being selected would be more than enough.

Oops - I just noticed the date of the last reply to this tread (I'm very new to forums) so it looks like this idea never happened. Too bad.

I think it is a good idea. But maybe it needs to come from the community so Rob diesn't have to wear another hat! To enter you could submit a picture and a paragraph about your tank. At the end of the month the community could vote. Then there could be an interview or tank tour with the winner. It could start out quarterly until the bugs are worked out.

I like the idea. I would give the winner the recognition they deserve for a job well done and at the same time educate others on how they were so successful!

The contest with voting would be cool. And its great if they can get on the show also to talk a little about anything unique or special they do. Its always great to hear some different ideas.

I think this would be a great idea too. I would just like to get to know everybody just a little better. There are not many reefer where I live. And to make matters worst, One just moved away.

Absolutely, I'd love to help in any way I can. However, as a rookie to forums, I am somewhat technically challenged. Just tell us what needs to be done, and perhaps a small group of us could "divide and conquer", this way if someone gets too busy ("life - don't talk to me about life") then there are others to cover for them.

There we go, see Rob your not alone. Let us help.

The frag idea is a good one, though just being interviewed by Rob and featured on an upcoming podcast would be prize enough for me!

The only problem with the frags idea is where to get them from, i dont think it would be too hard to find a Talking Reefer who has enough frags to donate. but whatever :D

An interview would be good enough for me too :p
