Heya all,

Wanted to hear opinions/experience from those who have done this or know better than me :). I am about to fire up a 40G breeder coral propagation tank. The tank have a 50G sump with about 50lbs of live rock, a ASM G2 skimmer. My main question is how do I cycle this tank? Should I just treat it like I would a regular reef tank? Any advice would be welcome.

Thanks,

John W.

Yup just like a normal tank since the rock will have die off. Give it plenty of time. :)

yes, it should be treated just like a normal tank, preferably connected to share the same water as the parent colony.

What if the rock I use is already cured ... what will or should I use to help maintain the bio activity? or do you think there will be enough life on the rocks themselves? or should I put a fish or two in the prop tank?

nope...
just drop the rock it and let the cycle occur.
even with cured rock, your tank still needs to go through this phase.

treat it as a normal tank and you will be fine.. :)
