consider room to grow, and think of who the neighbors are. a lot of lps have longer reach than sps.

where i have it placed now, it is about 8/9 inches from the flower pot......that entire side of the tank will only have sps....acros, monti cap (maybe some encrusting montipora) & Pocillopora.....zoos on the sand below

on the "ricordia island" is where i placed the frowgspawn...about 6 inches above the rics

how big does a branching type coral get?

they can get big, but it takes a long time.
an inch or two away generally is fine, although it the other coral is real aggressive, you might need more.

your placement sounds fine. just keep an eye on the flowerpot, they can really extend a long way. with the sps, they are generally not that agressive, but can extend to the point of blocking light. keep in mind that you generally need more room for lps. sps tend to work their growth direction easier than lps...at least in my experience.

another issue....my yellow clown goby has decided to make this guy home & he has stayed retracted all day.....will he adjust or should i move him?

he was hanging out on the monti cap, until i moved it...the cap didn't seem to mind.....i could put the cap in its place

from my experience, the staghorn will get used to it. give it a couple days and see. clown gobies usually don't constantly move when they perch in coral, so the corals usually get used to it.

veriann, yes it is....i have admitted defeat....lol

walrus, thank ya!
