I'd go to the fabric store and get some nylon net. Put the base of the colt coral in a little crevice or hole in the rock and use the net to make a cover over the coral. I attach the net to the rock with a rubberband.

I had read that using a piece of nylon or bridal vail would kill colt coral but I have found it to work very well with ricordia and GSP

I have used net and never encountered any problems.

Hmmm, I don't know. I kind of make a little pouch from the nylon net around the coral and rock, stick it in the tank and about a week later they are attached.

with colt coral does the nylon net actually hold the frag down or is there a bit of space when the coral is retracted

The net isn't tight, I just use it as kind a loose pouch over the coral.
