Killer Anemone

My anemone has been in my tank for about a year. It has never ate any of my fish but lately It decided it needs to kill. I feed it on Monday, Wednesday & Friday Microvert from Kent and on Saturdays I feed it Frozen Silversides.

Can someone help me?

Is it a carpet? or what type is it?

Is it eating the fish or just killing them?

How big is the tank, and what is your lighting? Also, how big is the anenome and are thre any clowns hosting in it? The clowns will keep other fish at bay.

Sorry, I don't buy that. Anemones are opportunistic feeders. They don't just one day decide to kill. They have no eyes, no brains, no sense of surroundings except for their need for light. They will sting, grab and kill many things that come into contact with their tentacles. Things like fish and shrimp. Without knowing the size of your tank and the size of the anemone it's impossible to determine what might cause this problem. My guess would be to small of tank for the anemone and other critters. I could be wrong because you haven't given us the tank size.

It is a 50 gallon hex the anemone is about 5 to 6 inches wide.

I didnt literaly mean it is trying to kill things.

My fish have always been able to swim through it but now they are being caught by the anemone.

Today it has eaten another. Now I have only one fish (Hawkfish). This fish is smart it never has swam even close to the anemone.

correct me if im wrong, but would that make the anemone at least 1/4 the diameter of your tank... being that hex tanks are usually tall with a small diameter?

but basically what you are saying is that for months no problems, but now its eating everything..
how much has it grown during this time?
how long has it been in there?
how long has the tank been up?

Yeah it is about 1/4 the size of the tank maybe smaller.

The Tank has been set up for about a year.

I bought the anemone about 6 months from setting up the tank.
