My BTA has dropped one tentacle and looks like one or two more a poised to drop. Is this normal? He seems to look healthy otherwise. He has all of his color and is inflated. Any ideas?
Duane, i have heard of this in some readings but usually they are in bad shape and dont make it.. but if he is fulling extended and full of color im not sure. i will try and find the actical i was reading but i dont bookmark everything so i dont know but i will try. i have also heard of them regenerating them selfs and being fine. good luck with it duane
im not sure why they do it, not sure its normal, or a bad sign, but both of my BTA's do this occasional. i dont notice it often, but from time to time, i see a tentacle floating around. never noticed any overall negative affect from it though.
so i would just keep an eye on it, but it should be ok

i read somewhere a long time ago that it may be a way of releasing genetic material to ensure survival of the species. since wildeone had a power outage problem recently.......could it be possible that it is a natural reaction?

Amp, where are u on this question. we need your council!
personally it seems reasonable, but i have not experienced this! only complete spliting! where the spilt becomes the new copy!, but never have i seen one arm floating! its definatley not though rough play of the clowns?
My mother split again this time she divided into a 1/2" anenome with only 7 or 8 tentacles. I am definitely raising this one to maturity. I don't think it would matter if a tentacle or two is gone. Often times when they move, they get themselves in a jam and try to squeeze themselves through. I wouldn't worry, especially if it appears healthy. It probably just got into a tight spot.
