Bi-Weekly 10% water changes with Scripps natural sea water. Kick ass, protein skimmer, fuge, 4 inch thick DSB, high flow and turnover, only use a filter sock two days a week, on Saturdays when the whole tank gets looked after.

Hi RockDoc, to TR.

I use a DSB, protein skimmer, fuge, RO/DI water, and 10% weekly water changes. I try to not overfeed.

Thanks for the great welcome! I'm thrilled to have found the podcast and the TR site. I'm playing catch-up on the podcasts, listening from both ends, and have about half under my belt so far. I have an established 29 gal, and a new (6 wks) 210 gal, still cycling and getting set up. Unfortunately, I set it up just before finding this site, so it has a shallow sand bed, about 2 1/2 inches. I have a refugium going in this week, so I am considering making the sand bed deeper in that. The other option is to pull out the 200 lbs of live rock from the display tank, adding more sand, and replacing the rock.
I'm looking forward to keeping the forum posted on my progress.
Thanks again for the welcome! Jay

I would add the sand while the tank is still cycling if it has not been up too long. Mix the additional sand with what is in there and it will help. Much better to do this now than later, and you wont be sorry.
