I ran accross this article after I adjusted my own bulb.

I have been trying to convince myself that the right side of my tank simply appears darker because the rocks are lower in the water and have a little more color to them. I finally twisted the bulb a little and fired the light back up and am convinced it looks a bit brighter. The nipple was on the bottom and is now to the side. Was that the issue? Maybe, or maybe the contact was weak (though I actually loosened it in the adjustment), or maybe it has to do with the filament orientation and not the nipple. Anyway I am happier with the light at the moment! I was concerned that it could be the ballast.

I have a basic parabolic reflector and cheap magnetic ballast ( 175W (M57) Retrofit Kit ~Probe Start - 30150 ) with 175W XM 10000K bulbs.

Anyone else experince anything like this with MH?
