Chemi-Pure

I had just added Chemi-Pure to my sump 2 weeks ago and have had to pull it to dose the Melafix. The container says it is good for 6 months. Can I save it and add it back to my sump after treating my tank? Should I rinse it with RO?

in the old days, we used to rinse it and then throw it in the freezer. i however don't like risking any possible recontamination and also use new media.

CarmieJo do you like the Chemi-Pure? I have read allot of post on it and never really seen anything bad, I guess the worst thing you see about it is they didnt notice anything, I dont think that is a bad thing since sometimes if you have a clean tank it may be working but you wouldnt see allot. Any other users?

The only thing negative I can say about it is that the directions say to "lightly rinse" prior to use. I rinsed it until I thought the water ran clear and still got black dust in my tank. On the other hand I thought it made my water really clear. I will probably continue to use it at least part time.
