nice link to those led moonlights carmiejo, someone has put in their homework!

i like the added benifit of the lunar cycle incorporated to the units! its a neat package to boot. That lense spreader is a great idea, i could use that attachment on every unit!
i have noticed though that LED are soley use so far to create moon light in the tank, Its is a great idea, (& rob id would like to see how ur diy project comes along if u get around to tinkering) im still looking for a manufacturer who builds chinese checkers style arrangement of Leds. These things burn away very cool indeed, so to have a full bank of them spanning a zone of the tank should be possible.

I cant find any relyable research as of yet to define it the available light would be enough and in the correct wave lenght to support proper growth of our inverts.
admittedley they are not as cheap as one would expect. but taking into account the technology is getting cheaper because they are taking off in other products all around us, this should not be a contributing factor for too long. besides, buying anything in bulk has its savings.!

The marine branch has always been high costs and high maintainance, and considering MH bulbs are changed quicker that it takes a monkey to take off with ur car keys, im hoping it can be shown that the productive life of these babies is enough to cut the mustard!
of course as any reefer can attribute to, we can still find ways to chew into our wallets and purses, speaking personally though, id rather turn my attentions towards something else other than a glass encased vacume, with a shorter shelf life that a tin of tomatos!

I might add it to the "to do list"
