Hey all,
I've been waiting for a good photo-op of my Mespilia globulus ("Blue Tuxedo Urchin"). Not a "looker" by any means but I find him terribly fascinating. How could a creature with a mouth mechanish called an "Aristotle's lantern" not be fascinating? He's always wearing a big crop of algae and other stuff on his back (which is considered a sign of happiness), so he is almost always obscured from most angles. Months after introducing him to the tank, the moment finally came. The pictures did not come out very well, and my glass was filthy, but I can clearly see that the urchin is missing some of the blue coloration in one of his bands!
I'm off to do some research on this, but I suspect it is not a favorable sign. If anyone has any background experience on this, please let me know.
